Are you an avid photographer looking for a unique and breathtaking location to capture some stunning winter shots? Look no further than the island fortress of Suomenlinna! Nestled in the heart of Helsinki, this historic landmark offers breathtaking views and endless photo opportunities, especially during the winter months.

Join me on a photography trip to Suomenlinna and experience some of the views of this island fortress in the colder seasons. On our first day the island had hardly any snow, but during the second night a blizzard of sorts covered the island and much of southern Finland with a pure, white cover.

The winter landscape at Suomenlinna provides endless inspiration for photographers of all levels. From the snowy walls of the fortress to the frozen waters of the bays, you’ll have endless opportunities to capture the beauty and serenity of the island.

Like a year ago we stayed two nights in one of HIAP‘s apartments. A rare treat as this makes you instantly feel like a local resident. For a more closer look at at a HIAP residency you can visit my post from last year called Residency Elias. When the tourists have left for the main land you stay and can explore the islands “undisturbed”.

After the gallery you’ll find a bonus feature showing aerial 360° photographs with an embedded 3D model of Augustin Ehrensvärd’s tomb. If you

As always, do view the photos and (hidden, can you find them?) videos on a big screen, full screen.

Like a year ago we were fortunate enough to stay two nights in one of HIAP‘s apartments. It was a special treat that made us feel like true locals. If you’d like to learn more about what a HIAP residency looks like, you can read my post from last year called Residency Elias.

After the tourists have gone back to the mainland, you can explore the island without being disturbed, which is something that I really enjoy. The night sky in Suomenlinna is also something that few people have had the chance to see.

After the gallery you’ll find a bonus feature showing aerial 360° photographs with an embedded 3D model of Augustin Ehrensvärd’s tomb.

A few words on navigating the bonus feature. It’s built with the incredible ThingLink tool. Start with going full screen (right lower corner). The initial view is a 360° image in which you can change the view. Use your mouse to drag the view to your left, right, up and down. You can even zoom a little bit. On the image you will find a find a few tags. Clicking on a tag will open a new image on top of the base image. Then there are tags with an arrow which will open a new base image with a new set of tags. If you feel lost you can always use the back arrow in the upper left hand side corner.

As always, do view the photos and (hidden, can you find them?) videos on a big screen, full screen.
